Welcoming in Father Christmas
Today is Christmas. The house is quiet, and tonight we will have a light meal, just the two of us. We have received calls throughout the day from our children, scattered across country, wishing us a merry Christmas. We only have our one daughter in town. She is the one who adopted three children in September. This means this is the first time they have had a real family and a real Christmas.
Last night was Christmas Eve, and in Argentina there is a late dinner, and the family waits to welcome in Christmas. At midnight the ringing of the bells announced that Santa and his sled are close by. The children put on their coats and ran outside to see if they could caatch a glims of the famous man in red. The gifts were quickly brought out by the parents and the children ran in to announce they hadnn’t caught Santa. It was a chaotic hour as the children were handed gifts, and tore open their presents. As the pictures show, there is nothing quite as wonderful as celebrating the holidays with those you love.
We enjoyed some wonderful South American food, played games, and of course I took some great pictures. These moments we share are more important than the size of your home, how much you have in your bank account, or where you work. If you don’t set aside time to spend with your family, don’t worry, when you are old they won’t call you.
I hope you have filled your holidays with love, and laughter, and joy. go outside and build a snowman, or make snow angels. Fill the pages of a journal with these memories, and you will have something more valuable than anything you can purchase with money. Happy Holidays. Until later…Colleen
